In early December Porsche will launch a special edition Boxster that has been inspired by the 1960s Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder. Limited to only 1,960 models worldwide the biggest change is the modified exhaust system that consists of a sports exhaust combined with a dual tailpipe that increased engine output to 303 bhp.

Offered in a GT silver metallic grey, the car comes accentuated with a red roof and natural leather interior in Carrera red, though the pictures make it look like a magenta leaning more towards hot pink than red. Thankfully, the car is also offered in dark grey leather with a black roof. The car sits on 19-inch wheel, which spacer plates have moved outwards, and its front end is a standard feature from Porsche’s SportDesign Package. Completing the sporty orientation is the Porsche Active Suspension Management system.

Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen has outperformed his team mate and shattered the pace of the McLarens this afternoon as he cruised to a fine win in the Ardennes forest. Felipe Massa brought home his Ferrari in second place, and the Scuderia have now officially sealed the 2007 constructors championship following McLaren’s exclusion. The loosing of the point over his team mate now means that Massa is unlikely to be pushed ahead for the title. Instead, Jean Todt will have to put the majority of resources behind todays winner as the season progresses away from Europe and into Asia.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) _ Chrysler’s new marketing chief helped launch an ad campaign for the 2008 Dodge Caravan on Thursday, saying the redesigned minivan remains the “bedrock” for Dodge as it expands its lineup and tries to appeal to a wider audience.

“Working with these iconic American brands is probably the biggest and most exciting marketing challenge that I’ve been able to take part in,” said Deborah Wahl Meyer, who became Chrysler LLC’s vice-president and chief marketing officer two weeks ago after leaving Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus division. The Caravan, she added, “is the bedrock of what we’re really going to do.”

Built for limousine company Style Limousine in England at a cost of about $400,000 plus the price of the car, it seats eight people in carbon fiber seats, each with a racing belt harness. Style claims that the standard 395 hp (295 kw) engine will yield a zero to sixty time of less than six seconds.

MONZA, Italy (AP) _ Lewis Hamilton believes McLaren has a mental edge over Ferrari in the Formula One championship despite the discovery of new evidence in the spy scandal.

“If you look at what’s gone on, I do think we are the stronger team,” the McLaren driver said Thursday, three days before the Italian Grand Prix.

The International Automobile Federation has called a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council on Sept. 13, which could lead to a two-year ban for McLaren for obtaining confidential information from Ferrari.

That would spell the end of Hamilton’s title challenge, but the 22-year-old Briton, who leads the series in his rookie season, is thinking only about Sunday’s race at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza.
